Haere mai ki Whakapapa | Welcome to Whakapapa

Located on the northern slopes of Mt Ruapehu, Whakapapa operates year-round welcoming up to 250,000 manuhiri (guests) to our world-class ski area, nestled within the stunning, Dual World Heritage Tongariro National Park.

In winter, from June until October, this includes a world-class ski area. Many Kiwis discovered their first love of snow at Whakapapa’s premier learner facility, Happy Valley, while more advanced skiers and riders hone their skills, exploring 550 hectares complete with cruisy groomers, exhilarating chutes, and remnants of old crater rims, on their descent from 2320m.

In summer, from December until April, this includes our summer sightseeing operation. During summer, with the maunga laid bare of its winter coat, our sightseeing and hiking trails come alive. We welcome guests up our Sky Waka gondola (a a 1.8km journey) to dine with a breathtaking view of the volcanic terrain and central plateau.

Whether you’re working on the slopes in winter or welcoming sightseers in summer, our team members are passionate about both their work and the place they call home. We offer more than just a job – we offer a life-changing experience.

Our success is dependent on our whānau, a team ranging from 50-300 members (depending on the season). We offer a variety of roles from permanent full-time to seasonal positions, including ski instructors, lift mechanics, food and beverage, and administrative roles. Whether you’re a student, someone seeking a career change, or just up for a challenge, we’re looking for enthusiastic, reliable, and guest-focused people to join us.
